| Care | Japanese maples prefer moist well drained soil. Allow the plant to drain in between watering. Generally you do not want to water a Japanese Maple daily. The only exception would be during the hottest part of summer if you are establishing the plant. Never spray the foliage of the plant to water it. This has a tendency to burn the foliage and make it unsightly, although it will not kill it. Always water at the base of the trunk of the tree with a slow trickle. Keep mulch no thicker than 2" deep and off the trunk of the tree. Fertilization is recommended, do not over fertilize! |
